We are a group of influential and committed young ladies, with the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of other Ugandan girls.
The group was first named 'Girl Group' and was later changed to Sisters in Service (SiS). The ministry is based in Lugazi a city in Mukono District, central Uganda. SiS was first properly organised in 2006 and has since grown and received supporters from Sweden.
The purpose of the ministry is to support, empower and equip girls aged between 13 and 25 years of age. We arrange various activities aimed at restoring value and dignity within these girls, encouraging them to do more for themselves and developing them into confident and independent young women of the future.
An 'Annual Girls Challenge Conference' was started in December 2008 facilitated by guests from Sweden. The hugely successful conference attracted many young ladies across Uganda. Since then other programs such as the 'Women's Football Challenge Cup' has been started as well as opportunities to creatively make handmade paper necklaces and earrings, hand bags as well as fruit bowls.
The team meets every weekend and if needed a couple of evenings during the week days. Because most of the girls are in full-time education, they can only come to meet whenever possible.
We are currently looking for a new meeting place due to some unfortunate circumstances causing us to have to move out of the current one.
